Hey internet!  My name is Allie and this is my DIY home improvement blog.  My husband Chris and I bought a house back in 2010 and have been slowly but surely turning it into our own.  By “slowly and surely” I mean I’ve been doing most of the work myself.  Although Chris might look like a cross between a mountain man and a football player, he’s not too keen on home improvement work. Which is funny considering he is an engineer who works in construction.  Honestly, he’s more comfortable in the kitchen than he is behind a table saw.  There’s nothing wrong with that either, especially considering that man can cook!  We are basically living proof that you can’t judge a book by its cover.  When you add our off-the-wall Vizsla named Penny to the mix, our wonderfully unique family is complete.

Chris and I met at Drexel University, where I majored in Design and Merchandising and he in Civil Engineering.  I had no experience in home improvement when we purchased our first house, so it was a completely new thing for me to sink my teeth into.  Now I can’t get enough!  That next project is always in the back of my mind.  So I decided to start this blog to chronicle our journey from turning this house into a home and hopefully help some young homeowners who might be overwhelmed.  Come join us!

Hey Allie, I’m local to you – love your projects! You do more building than me, I really need to get into that more. I have the tools – I just have to force myself to use them. 🙂 Good weather would help right? Anyway – nice to meet you!!

Thanks so much! Building is much easier than you would think it is, just requires a little patience! Nice to meet you as well!
